Albert
Dad's youngest brother, Albert

Dad's youngest brother, Albert, played hockey in Toronto and had to attend school there. We had to pay for Albert's schooling in Toronto...give so much money out of each cheque we had. Clifford and myself and everyone else. Albert played hockey in Toronto and went to school. We all had to chip in to pay for it.

I cut cord wood our here (Mulligan Bay area) for Fortin's...$1.25 a cord...$1.50 for birch. I used to get paid every Saturday...not very much. We had a camp at Sandbar Lake, just where Edo Bruns camp is now, just up this way a bit more. We had a camp there and stayed in there. "Tarzan" Fortin and myself stayed in camp all week cutting wood, I used to cut two cords in a day, split and piled. Tarzan would cut four!

One night Tarzan didn't come back to camp. I wondered where the hell he was. I took a lamp and went out to look for him. It was winter. I went out and there he was throwing cordwood around. Cripes! He had about four cords of wood. It was only a dollar and a quarter a cord. That only gave him six bucks. His brother came out to scale the wood on Friday or Saturday. Tarzan would say, "There's four cord there". "No there isn't", his brother would say. "There's too many holes in it". "Man, you buy a donut, you buy the hole too", Tarzan would say. He would fight with his brother. "Tarzan" was "Froggy" brother, He died out west in BC, There were sixteen in the family.
